What is a Senior Adventure Club?

Senior Adventure Clubs are local, self-governing clubs that

  • offer regularly scheduled adventures for seniors including those with early-stage Alzheimer’s

  • offer respite for caregivers and family

  • use a shared responsibility model where all members take responsibility for the health of their club

Each Adventure Club operates independently and chooses its own activities and location. All Adventure Clubs adhere to a shared set of principles and values.

Who Can Join?

Anyone. Adventure Clubs are made up of seniors and caregivers or volunteers. All members (seniors, caregivers and volunteers) help plan and run activities for their club.

What happens at an Adventure Club?

Adventure Clubs are free to decide what activities they engage in. Typical activities might include two of the following: a hike, cooking or going out to eat, going to a concert, volunteering, gardening or a museum visit. Adventure Clubs may decide that some meetups are activities that require more or less facilitation from a caregiver or volunteer (an “Adventure Guide”).

How Much are Clubs?

Adventure Clubs are free. Activities are organized by members, caregivers, and volunteers, and any costs for outings (transportation, tickets, meals) are agreed upon by each club.
